  • Com Port won't release on shutdown

For the past couple of weeks, I've had an anomaly that has never before happened.

For many years, I have been clicking the "X" to close the Rotor window on shutdown for the night. Recently, when I do that, I no longer have access to COM1 (real RS-232 port) for my Rotor Control. I can not use COM1 for the Rotor setup program either as it's "in use". The only alternative is to reboot the computer and that clears the lockout. If I do the extra click of DISCONNECT, then the port is properly closed. Never had to do this in all the years of running HRD since early v5 development betas. I can only surmise that a recent WIN10 update is causing this. I have not yet been plagued with the 1709 FCE update either, but it's only a matter of time before that shows up.

Why doesn't everybody do this? It's so much easier than having to work through hundreds (or thousands) of log entries once or twice a YEAR.
